Cautious optimism is not a bad thing. We won't know anything until BDO has a look at the accounts. Hopefully all the money "in trust" is still "in trust" -- which means families will be able to get it back. Also, a class action suit against the agency/government would not be out of line. And perhaps some of the files can be transferred to CAFAC or Children's Bridge so that families can carry on if they wish.
It's a mess, that's for sure. It's only ever happened once before, and the agency owners absconded with everyone's cash. That has not happened this time, as far as we can tell, since The Owner's Husband and Daughter are still here in Canada and BDO is in charge. So, at least there is the possibility of some resolution. Personally, I think it was just a matter of gross fiscal incompetence.
I don't know what to tell you to make it better, I really don't. I wish I did. I have been so upset since the news broke, so I can only imagine how devastating it has been for you and the other families. But like I said, if I hear anything concrete I will pass it along. And I am always here if you need to chat with someone.
